In comparison to various adventures around the Nepal Himalayas. The trek takes you to a nice village in another lovely settlement populated by the ancient and indigenous Tamang tribe communities. The Tamang originated in Inner Mongolia and drifted to Nepal via Tibet more than five thousand years ago. Heavily spread around the Kathmandu valley rim, as well as Mid-East and Mid-West Nepal as far as East and Western Nepal.
At present, the country’s 4th most populated tribe follows the Mahayana Buddhism of Nyimpa sects, similar to its Tibetan predecessors. The Tamang also practice the ancient cult known as Bon, a pre-Buddhism, worship of nature, and mountain spirits. As follows, shamanism is the tradition of a part-time religious specialist or witch doctor to heal sickness and drive away evil spirits.
An enjoyable trek on a well-defined trail facing views of Ganesh and Langtang Himal, as you reach Gatlang. The largest village en route, a great place to experience the Tamang immense cultures of age-old heritage. The walk continues towards Tatopani and Thuman villages and crossing a high ridge at Nagethali. Enjoy the superb panorama of Himalayan peaks and then downhill to Briddim and Syabrubesi villages.

Upon arrival at Kathmandu's Nepal International Airport, note that Nepal Standard Time is 5 hours and 45 minutes ahead of GMT. Outside the terminal, our staff from RP Adventures will greet you and transfer you to your hotel. Located in the heart of Kathmandu, the hotel offers comfortable rooms. After checking in, meet with other members of the trek for a briefing about the Tamang Heritage Trail Trek. Gather all the useful information and trek details, then enjoy a group welcome dinner at a nice, authentic Nepali restaurant, where you will be introduced to Nepali food and culture.
Morning depart from the hotel having an early breakfast, for a long exciting drive beyond Kathmandu valley. Heading due north leaving the warm paddy terraces reaching cooler hills at Dhunche, at 1,950 m. The major and headquarter town of Rasuwa district, where Langtang Himal and beautiful valley located. Dhunche town the entry point of Langtang National Park, from here drive leads on winding downhill to Syabrubesi village for overnight halt. A moderate size interesting Tamang village, the main tribe of Rasuwa and Langtang Himal region. Syabrubesi village beside Langtang valley it is also a gateway to various adventure destinations, and route to Nepal and Tibet / China border.
The first day of trekking begins by heading right to the main village of the journey to the lovely large settlement at Gatlang. It was a pleasant walk with an uphill climb and through nice farm areas and smaller villages to reach Gatlang for an overnight stop. On arrival, we welcome you with warm traditional greetings and offer a silk scarf called a Khada.
Spending a pleasant overnight in a nice homestay hut or cottage, managed by the village community, Enjoying traditional local meals with joyful folk song and dance. A lively environment made the extra-free day memorable at Gatlang, observing the immense cultures of the Tamang tribe.
The morning starts with a second day of walks facing views of surrounding peaks. The morning begins with an uphill climb past farm villages. As well as walking through a cool, forested path to Tatopani village for an overnight stop. Tatopani means hot water; before the earthquake of 2015, there existed a natural hot spring. Hence the name Tatopani for this nice mountain village. The natural hot spring was significantly affected after the 2015 earthquake and is no longer widely used.
After breakfast at Tatopani, begin a steady uphill climb through peaceful forests toward Nagethali (3,165 m), the highest point of the trek. From the viewpoint, enjoy magnificent panoramic views of Langtang Himal, Ganesh Himal, Manaslu, and the Tibetan mountains on a clear day. After spending time at the viewpoint, descend through alpine forests and traditional Tamang settlements to Bumthang, where you will stay overnight.
Leaving Bumthang after breakfast, follow a pleasant downhill trail through forests and terraced fields toward the traditional Tamang village of Thuman. Located close to the Nepal–Tibet border, Thuman is well known for its rich Tamang culture, traditional stone houses, Buddhist heritage, and unique Shamanic (Jhankri) traditions. Spend the evening exploring the village and interacting with the welcoming local community.
Enjoy the last day of the adventure, a morning from Thuman with an easy, pleasant descent to Syabrubesi village. On arrival, check in at the same previous lodge for a final overnight in the land of the Tamang people.
Depart for Kathmandu with an interesting overland journey, leaving Syabrubesi village and heading uphill to Dhunche town. The drive follows downhill to Trisuli Bazaar, reaching a low, warm area around Nuwakott district. The drive takes a few hours to enter Kathmandu and then back to your hotel.
The last final day in Kathmandu and in Nepal is your international flight time. Our RP Adventures guides and staff transfer you to the airport, and then you bid farewell to the guide and staff. Then enter the airport terminal for a homeward-bound flight after a memorable short adventure around Tamang Heritage Trail Trekking.
