Introduction

The Annapurna Circuit Trek is a wonderful adventure covering both sides of the Annapurna Himalaya massif. It is one of the most exciting treks around the entire Annapurna Himalayas, offering continuous views of towering snow-capped peaks. The Annapurna Circuit and Thorang-La Pass are listed among the world’s top ten adventure destinations by renowned guidebooks and travel magazines.

This enjoyable and adventurous walk allows one to experience various landscapes, climates, and vegetation, as well as local cultures. It is a complete and mesmerizing journey around the northern and southern areas of the great Annapurna Himalayan range of peaks. Currently, the trek around the Annapurna Himalayas has been shortened due to motorable roads, but the adventure is still enjoyable.

The villagers have retained their age-old glories and cultures, making the Annapurna Circuit an exciting and marvelous country to visit. The Annapurna Circuit Trek begins with an interesting overland journey towards Nepal’s Far North Mid-West. After reaching the low, warm farm country of Lamjung district, the trek proceeds up towards the cooler hills of the Manang areas.

Annapurna Circuit Trek Outline

Embark on adventurous walks starting from the lovely Dharapani village, passing through Timang and Chame town, and then proceeding towards the scenic high valley of Manang. This beautiful and spectacularly windswept country is enclosed by the giant peaks of Annapurna and Chulu Himal. The walk leads to the main village of Manang, situated on a lovely spot above the Marsyangdi River, as well as close to the glaciers and icefall of the Gangapurna Himal, Annapurna II, and A-III peaks.

After enjoying a pleasant rest day for acclimatization in the interesting village of Manang, the adventure continues towards the end of the Manang Valley. From the valley rim of Manang, a steep, strenuous climb will take you to the top of Thorang-La Pass. This is the highest point of the adventure, where every hard effort is rewarded with incredible views of towering snow-capped mountains.

Facing Dhaulagiri Himal towards the West, with Annapurna Himalaya, Chulu, and Manaslu Himal in the far-east direction, Thorang-La Pass forms the boundary between Manang and Mustang districts. From the pass, a long descent leads to Muktinath temple, a holy Hindu temple—one of the holiest pilgrimage sites for Hindu followers, revered by Buddhists as well.

Descending from Muktinath to the wide Kaligandaki River Valley, the journey continues past Jomsom town and the lovely villages of Marpha and Tukuche. Slowly, the adventure heads through the world’s deepest gorge, the Kaligandaki River, sandwiched between Mt. Dhaulagiri and Mt. Annapurna.

Upon reaching the low, warm farmland and the village of Tato-Pani, named “Hot Water” due to its natural hot spring nearby, you can enjoy a wonderful time in Tatopani village. The walk then ascends to Ghorepani village, amidst beautiful rhododendron tree lines. Ghorepani is a great scenic village, and the next morning, there is time for a hike to the famous Poon Hill.

The top of Poon Hill offers stunning views of the sunrise over a chain of snow-capped peaks. After visiting Poon Hill and Ghorepani, our trek slowly comes to an end as we head down to Ulleri village. An exciting drive from Ulleri takes you to the beautiful city of Pokhara, situated by the famously serene Phewa Lake. Upon reaching scenic Pokhara, our marvelous adventure of a great and wonderful experience on the Annapurna Circuit and Thorang-La Pass Treks concludes.

  • What types of training and exercise do we need for this trek before trekking?

Normally, we have to prepare both physically and mentally. After that, we need to engage in activities such as hiking for 1 hour every day, going to the gym, or swimming, which we highly recommend to you.
  • What is the system for tipping drivers, porters, and guides?

It depends on you and your happiness what you wish to give, but our organization has been working in this field for 20 years, and we expect generous tips because this is a seasonal job. Throughout the year, we only work for 4 months, which is why I suggest giving good tips. You might wonder what constitutes a good tip. Normally, it's recommended to tip 10% of your total package cost to the guide, 4-5% to the porter, and 1% to the driver and other staff.
  • Why is RP Adventures different from other companies?

RP Adventures specializes in organizing a wide variety of adventure activities across Asia, especially in Nepal, Tibet, India, and Bhutan, for people of all ages. We organize these activities throughout the year, offering both deluxe and standard services with our commitment to 100% client satisfaction. Our team includes well-educated and medically trained professionals. All our guides have over 10 years of experience in the field, possessing extensive knowledge about culture, religion, flora and fauna, as well as the wildlife and domestic animals of different cultures. With us, you come as a guest and leave as a family member. Also, in Nepali, we say "Atithi Devo Bhava," which means "The guest is God."
  • While trekking in Kathmandu, what sightseeing options are there and at which hotel will we stay?

We specially organize accommodations for our guests in deluxe and standard hotels in Kathmandu, depending on our guests' budgets. This includes options from 5-star, 4-star, to 3-star hotels, based on the services you prefer. Before and after trekking, whatever sightseeing activities our guests wish to undertake in the Kathmandu Valley, we organize accordingly. This means we offer multiple options for sightseeing in Kathmandu Valley. Kathmandu is home to many World Heritage Sites, including Kathmandu Durbar Square, Patan Durbar Square, Bhaktapur Durbar Square, Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa, Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple), Changunarayan Temple, and the Chandragiri Cable Car.
  • Does RP Adventures offer any other types of hiking, tours, trekking, peak climbing, expeditions, rafting, canoeing, paragliding, mountain flights, helicopter tours, and other budget tours?

Yes, we offer various types of activities including hiking, tours, trekking, peak climbing, expeditions, rafting, canoeing, paragliding, mountain flights, helicopter tours, and other budget tours as well, depending on our guests' wishes. Whether they want only a guide, only a porter, only special permits, any type of transport, or regular flights, we can arrange anything.
  • What age group can do this trek, and can solo trekkers undertake this trek?

Depending on people's interest, anyone from 8 to 80 years old can undertake this trek. In our experience, we have organized many treks in Nepal for people of all ages; there is no age limit. If you are physically and mentally prepared and strong enough, you can do this trek. Solo trekkers can also undertake this trek, both in the season and off-season.
  • Why are the Marsyangdi and Kali Gandaki rivers very famous for Buddhist and Hindu religions?

The Marsyangdi and Kali Gandaki rivers are very famous in both Buddhist and Hindu religions because both rivers originate from significant lakes. The Marsyangdi river flows from Tilicho Lake (referred to as Kagbhusundi Lake in Hindu Puranas), and the Kali Gandaki river originates from Damodar Kunda Lake. Both lakes are considered holy, as are the rivers themselves.
  • Why is the Kali Gandaki gorge (Kabre Bhir) the deepest place in the world?

This is because the gorge is located between two mountains: Dhaulagiri, which is 8,167m high, and Annapurna, which is 8,091m high. That's why we call it the deepest place in the world.
  • How do we know if a guide and porter are experienced?

Normally, we assess their performance and psychological aspects, their confidence level, and eye contact. The organization knows its team very well. We train our team before they undertake any work or trekking.
  • What is the trip money payment process at RP Adventures?

We offer different options for payment, both online and offline. When you book a trip, you are required to deposit 20% of the total amount. After that, when you arrive in Kathmandu, you can pay the remainder by cash or card. If you choose to pay by card, please note that there will be a bank charge of 4% of your total cost. I recommend my guests bring cash to avoid this fee.
