The Annapurna Circuit Short Trek is a 12-day trekking adventure that circles the stunning Mount Annapurna in the Himalayas. Traditionally, the Annapurna Circuit hike spans at least 20 days. However, we have streamlined this journey, reducing it to 12 days while following the same breathtaking path. This trek is perfect for those eager to swiftly cross Thorung La, the world’s highest mountain pass, and immerse themselves in the spectacular Annapurna Himalayan region. It’s one of the most condensed itineraries available for this incredible hike.
Due to the demanding nature of high pass hiking and the need for physical fitness at high altitudes, we recommend this 12-day trek for those with some prior experience.
From June to early September, Nepal experiences monsoon season, characterized by heavy rainfall and increased risk of rock and mudslides on the trails. Spring, between mid-March and mid-April, sees the rhododendron forests in bloom, but this period is also wet and leeches can be a nuisance at lower elevations. The ideal times for the Annapurna Circuit Trek are from mid-March to May and from mid-September to November.
The Annapurna Circuit Short Trek is moderately difficult. It can be particularly challenging for first-time high-altitude trekkers, as it reaches over 5000 meters above sea level. A month of preparation involving cardio or daily hikes can make the trek more enjoyable and manageable. Mental and physical preparation is essential to build endurance and ensure a successful high-altitude trek.
The Short Annapurna Circuit Trek is an alternative route to the classic Annapurna Circuit Trek, known for its scenic beauty. The trek starts and ends in Kathmandu.
You can see mad honey hives on the Annapurna Circuit Trek. The Himalayan giant honeybee (Apis laboriosa) is known to build its hives on the steep cliffs of the region, and these can often be spotted along the trek. The potential spots for viewing honey hives are Jagat to Dharapani, Chame to Pisang and Braga village. However, in order to spot the hive, you may need binoculars and local guides.
The Short Annapurna Circuit Trek offers a diverse and rewarding experience, showcasing the natural beauty and cultural richness of the Annapurna region.
